The Nissan Leaf enters its third generation as of mid-2025, built on the new AmpR Medium platform and adopting a crossover-like body style. It marks a significant renewal of Nissan’s long-standing electric model. In Saudi Arabia, there is no official Nissan distribution for this generation; any Leaf 3 arrives via parallel imports or private sourcing. It appeals to modern EV buyers seeking a stylish, efficient, and practical electric vehicle with proven reliability.
Visually, the new Leaf adopts smoother cross-crossover proportions with a more upright stance than previous hatchback models. It measures approximately 4,350 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and stands roughly 1,550 mm tall, riding on a 2,690 mm wheelbase. Design elements include a closed-grille front fascia, flush door handles, sculpted body surfaces, and aerodynamic lighting to reduce drag. The overall styling seamlessly blends aerodynamics with functional doors and wheel details optimized for efficiency.
The cabin leaps with premium simplicity and digital clarity. Dual large displays (up to 14.3 inches each) manage infotainment and driver information. Seating and materials include Zero-Gravity front seats, ambient lighting, and a minimalist dash layout. The rear can accommodate up to three adults in a comfortable design, featuring improved legroom compared to earlier generations of the Leaf. The cargo volume is approximately 437 litres, with the addition of folding rear seats increasing practicality. Additional features include V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, allowing the car to power external devices of up to 3.6 kW.
Advanced technology is embedded through Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist suite for semi–autonomous highway driving, including adaptive cruise control and steering assist. Safety systems include automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera in higher trim levels. Thermally controlled liquid-cooled battery packs are standard, optimizing performance in hot climates. V2G (vehicle-to-grid) readiness is engineered into the EV platform, enabling future energy to be returned to the grid where infrastructure permits.
Since Nissan does not officially distribute the third-generation Leaf in KSA, warranty and after-sales care rely entirely on the importer. Importers may include limited warranties covering battery health and basic servicing for periods ranging from one to three years. Owners should confirm that EV-certified technicians, software support, and spare parts logistics are in place—especially for major cities like Riyadh and Jeddah. Reliable access to fast-charging infrastructure and service networks is critical.
Globally, the third-generation Leaf competes with compact EVs including the Tesla Model 3, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and VW ID.4. However, it offers a distinctive value profile with long-range capability, crossover styling, and V2L/V2G support. In the KSA context, it stands apart from imported compact EVs by combining executive presence, high tech, and proven global reliability in an affordable package via import channels.
