The Mitsubishi Pajero is one of the most recognised and respected full-size SUVs in Saudi Arabia, renowned for its rugged off-road capabilities, durable construction, and family-friendly practicality. Introduced decades ago and remaining popular until production ended in 2021, the Pajero became a household name for buyers who needed an SUV capable of handling desert terrains, city roads, and long-distance travel with ease. Though production ended in 2015, its reputation for reliability, comfort, and value made it a top choice among families and adventure enthusiasts in the KSA used car market.
The Mitsubishi Pajero was offered in KSA with two main engine options. The 3.5-litre V6 engine produced approximately 184 horsepower and 306 Nm of torque, while the more powerful 3.8-litre V6 delivered around 236 horsepower and 329 Nm of torque. Both engines were paired with either a 4-speed or a 5-speed automatic transmission and a full-time four-wheel-drive system. The Pajero featured a robust body-on-frame chassis combined with an independent suspension setup, providing a comfortable ride on highways while retaining serious off-road capability. Its Super Select 4WD system allows drivers to switch between 2WD, 4WD, and low-range gears, making it highly versatile for various driving conditions.
The Mitsubishi Pajero featured a strong and timeless design that emphasized its rugged nature. A bold chrome grille, large headlights, and a muscular bumper with integrated fog lights characterized the front fascia. The side profile showcased its boxy yet refined look with pronounced wheel arches, side steps, roof rails, and spare wheel mounted on the rear tailgate. The rear design was practical, with large taillights and a wide-opening rear door for easy access to the cargo area. Alloy wheels and chrome accents on higher trims added a premium touch to its otherwise tough appearance.
Inside, the Pajero offered a spacious and functional cabin with seating for seven passengers across three rows. The interior focused on comfort and durability, featuring quality materials suitable for both family use and off-road adventures. The front seats were supportive, and the second row offered generous legroom, while the third row was best suited for children or short trips. Higher trims included leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, a sunroof, and woodgrain or aluminum-style trim. Practical features like rear air vents, fold-flat rear seats, and ample storage enhanced its usability for families.
Given its size and V6 engine, the Pajero offered average fuel efficiency for a full-size SUV, ranging from 7.4 to 7.7 km/l. While not focused on fuel economy, this was an acceptable trade-off for its off-road capabilities and versatile performance.
The Mitsubishi Pajero was equipped with a range of practical and convenience technologies. Standard features included air conditioning, power windows, keyless entry, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Higher trims added features such as cruise control, a rearview camera, navigation, and premium sound systems. Safety features included ABS, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), stability control, traction control, multiple airbags, and rear parking sensors.
In KSA, the Pajero was offered in classic and practical colors such as white, silver, black, grey, dark blue, and champagne gold. These colors complemented its versatile character, appealing to a broad range of buyers.
In the KSA used SUV market, the Mitsubishi Pajero competes with models like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, Nissan Patrol, and Ford Explorer. While it may not match the Prado’s resale value or the Patrol’s power, the Pajero stands out for offering a balanced combination of off-road capability, interior comfort, and affordability. It remains one of the most trusted SUVs for families and adventurers in Saudi Arabia.

The overall rating of Mitsubishi Pajero is 2.0/5.0 based on:
What won me over was the ride height. It gives a commanding view of the road. Not the most agile, but very comfortable in traffic.
Not a fan of how it looks, but behind the wheel? Completely different story. It’s got soul.
