The MG HS is a compact SUV offered in Saudi Arabia with three trim levels: Standard, Deluxe, and Luxury. The Luxury trim is further split into two engine options: a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine. The MG HS represents the latest generation of this popular model and was introduced to the KSA market.
Positioned in the competitive compact SUV segment, the MG HS in KSA caters to a wide range of drivers, from budget-conscious buyers to those seeking premium features without the premium price tag. The model emphasizes sporty design, modern interiors, and efficient performance, making it a practical choice for families and young professionals across KSA.
The MG HS offers two main engine options in the KSA market. The Standard trim is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, producing approximately 170 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, offering smooth gear shifts and commendable fuel economy. It is front-wheel drive and well-suited for city driving and occasional highway use.
The Deluxe trim features a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 227 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and features an all-wheel-drive system, providing enhanced grip and control, particularly on rough or slippery roads. Acceleration is noticeably more substantial than that of the 1.5T, providing a sportier driving experience and quicker overtakes.
In the Luxury trim, buyers have the option of either the 1.5T or the 2.0T petrol variant. The 1.5T accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 7 seconds, making it the quickest among the MG HS lineup. The 2.0T Luxury version shares the same powertrain as the Deluxe but adds more features and trim enhancements.
All MG HS trims share a bold and athletic exterior design that emphasizes a sporty character. The front fascia features a large chrome grille, flanked by sharp LED headlamps and daytime running lights. In the Standard trim, the car is equipped with halogen lighting and 17-inch alloy wheels. It offers a clean and simple appearance that aligns with its value-oriented nature.
The Deluxe trim is upgraded to 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and full LED headlamps, along with chrome detailing around the windows and grille, resulting in a more premium look. It also includes roof rails and privacy glass for rear windows, which enhance its crossover appeal.
The Luxury trim takes styling further with features such as sequential LED indicators, a panoramic sunroof, power-folding mirrors, and additional chrome accents. The 1.5T PHEV variant includes special badging and unique blue accents to differentiate it from the conventional petrol versions. In all trims, the MG HS successfully blends elegance with a strong road presence, standing out among compact SUVs in the KSA.
The MG HS interior is spacious, modern, and equipped with a variety of features that elevate the overall driving experience. In the Standard trim, the cabin features fabric upholstery, a manually adjustable driver's seat, and a basic infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity. It’s simple but functional, suitable for drivers who prioritize value over luxury.
The Deluxe trim introduces leatherette seat covers, power adjustment for the driver’s seat, and dual-zone climate control. The dashboard layout is clean and centered around a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Soft-touch materials are introduced on key surfaces, enhancing the tactile experience.
The Luxury trim features a fully digital cockpit, complete with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a high-resolution infotainment screen. It also features ambient lighting, real leather upholstery, a powered passenger seat, and ventilated front seats. The cabin is quiet and well-insulated, creating a premium atmosphere that rivals more expensive competitors. Whether it’s the MG HS interior in the Standard or Luxury trim, all variants offer solid build quality and ample room for passengers and cargo alike.
The technological equipment varies across the MG HS trims, but remains generous, even in the base model. The Standard trim comes equipped with rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, cruise control, and basic driver assistance systems.
The Deluxe trim elevates the features by adding blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, keyless entry, and push-button start. Its infotainment system is faster and more responsive, paired with improved audio output.
The Luxury trim is equipped with MG Pilot, the brand’s advanced driver-assist suite. It includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera system. Other conveniences include wireless phone charging, a premium sound system, and built-in navigation. The PHEV version adds EV-specific displays and controls, including driving modes for hybrid and electric-only operation.
The MG HS in KSA is supported by a strong warranty program that includes six years or 200,000 kilometers of coverage, along with five years of roadside assistance. Maintenance intervals are set at every 10,000 kilometers, and MG’s growing service network ensures availability of parts and experienced technicians in major cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and others.
According to customer reviews and regional data, the MG HS performs well in reliability ratings. The turbocharged engines, both 1.5T and 2.0T, are known for their efficiency and durability when properly maintained.
In the KSA compact SUV market, the MG HS competes with models such as the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan X-Trail.
The Tucson and Sportage offer multiple engine options and substantial resale value, but often come at a higher price point. The MG HS, especially in the Deluxe and Luxury trims, delivers similar power and better feature-to-price ratio.
The Mazda CX-5 stands out for its dynamic handling, but its base features don’t match the MG HS Deluxe or Luxury trims. Meanwhile, the Nissan X-Trail offers excellent space and reliability, but its infotainment and driver assistance features appear dated when compared to those of the MG HS.

The overall rating of MG HS 2025 is 2.0/5.0 based on:
Can’t believe how much I got for this price. Features galore, and none of them feel gimmicky.
I’ve driven it across borders and back. Never once did the check engine light come on. A few squeaky panels inside, but mechanically flawless.
