The Hyundai Veloster is a compact sports coupe that brought a distinctive and unconventional design to the Saudi Arabian market. Introduced in 2012, the first-generation Veloster remained available in KSA until around 2018. It was marketed as a sporty and youthful vehicle, combining the practicality of a hatchback with the dynamic styling of a coupe. One of its most unique features was the three-door configuration—one door on the driver’s side and two on the passenger side—offering a blend of style and usability. The Veloster remains available in the used car market across KSA.
In KSA, the Hyundai Veloster was offered with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine producing around 128 horsepower and 157 Nm of torque. It came with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, while the turbo variant featured either a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Veloster was front-wheel drive and offered a responsive driving experience suited for city streets and highway cruising.
The Veloster stood out in the market thanks to its sporty, asymmetrical design. It featured a low-slung body, an aggressive front grille, sleek headlamps, and a sloped roofline that gave it a coupe-like silhouette. The hidden third rear door, located on the passenger side, added to its unique appeal while improving rear-seat access. LED daytime running lights, fog lamps, and alloy wheels enhanced its bold styling. The rear included a centered dual exhaust outlet and a sporty diffuser-style bumper.
Inside, the Hyundai Veloster offered a driver-focused cockpit with a youthful and modern design. The front seats were supportive and sporty, offering leather upholstery and red stitching. The rear seats were better suited for short trips, but added practicality. Features included a multi-function steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity, and push-button start. Higher trims included panoramic sunroof, premium audio, and heated front seats, offering comfort and tech without the premium price tag.
Fuel efficiency was one of the Veloster’s strengths. Offering around 13.9 km/l, depending on driving style. This made it a relatively economical option among sporty compact cars.
The Veloster came equipped with a solid list of features for its class. These included a touchscreen display with navigation in higher trims, a rearview camera, USB and AUX ports, and premium sound systems. Safety features included ABS, electronic stability control, traction control, multiple airbags, and rear parking sensors. The turbo variants also offered additional driving modes and sport-tuned suspension for an enhanced driving experience.
In KSA, the Hyundai Veloster was available in a wide range of vibrant colors, including red, blue, yellow, white, black, silver, and grey. These bold options matched its sporty character and youth-oriented appeal.
In the KSA used car market, the Hyundai Veloster competes with sporty hatchbacks and coupes, such as the Honda Civic Coupe, Kia Cerato Koup, and Volkswagen Scirocco. While it may not match some rivals in outright performance, the Veloster offers standout styling, practicality, and value. It remains an attractive choice for drivers looking for a unique and efficient sport compact.
