Madinah Renames Airport Road: A New Landmark for Drivers

Madinah airport

Saudi Arabia has just given one of its most traveled routes a new name — and for drivers, pilgrims, and transport operators alike, it’s more than just signage. The airport road in Madinah that links the Prophet’s Mosque to Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport is now officially called “Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road.”

This 13-kilometer stretch is a key artery for both Umrah and Hajj pilgrims, but also for anyone driving into Madinah—taxis, private cars, tour buses, and goods vehicles. It connects the mosque with King Salman Road and the airport’s Royal Terminal, cutting through three main ring highways: King Faisal (1st Ring), King Abdullah (2nd Ring), and King Khalid (3rd Ring).

More Than a Name Change: What Drivers Gain

For those behind the wheel, this road renaming isn’t just symbolic — it comes with infrastructure upgrades that will directly impact driving and transport:

A Road Every Car in Madinah Must Cross

The renaming of the airport road in Madinah is more than a tribute — it signifies Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing the driving experience, supporting pilgrimage traffic, and modernizing automotive access in one of the kingdom’s most significant cities. It also highlights how roads can shape both cultural identity and future mobility.
