Lucid Motors Boosts Electric Vehicle Manufacturing in Saudi Arabia

0 20

Saudi Arabia is taking a major step toward sustainable transport as EV manufacturing there gains momentum with Lucid Motors. The luxury EV maker is moving from simple assembly to full-vehicle manufacturing within the Kingdom. This shift aims to meet local demand and position Saudi Arabia as a global exporter of high-end electric cars.

Lucid’s Next Chapter in Saudi Arabia

Faisal Sultan, Regional President of Lucid Motors in the Middle East, opened the company’s first innovation hub in Riyadh. The hub was established with the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). Sultan said the goal is to go beyond assembly and start full-scale electric vehicle manufacturing locally.

The company has already made significant progress. “We are preparing to move from vehicle assembly to complete electric vehicle manufacturing within Saudi Arabia,” Sultan confirmed. This marks a key step in the Kingdom’s growing automotive ecosystem.

Lucid’s current facility in King Abdullah Economic City includes seven to eight factories. The company is upgrading these facilities to support the production of fully electric vehicles.

A Strategic Export Vision

Beyond domestic production, electric vehicle manufacturing in Saudi Arabia is tied to a global export strategy. Sultan highlighted that Lucid aims to supply international markets, not just the Gulf region.

The move reflects confidence in Saudi-made EVs. Lucid has already earned accolades, including Luxury Car of the Year. These awards prove that Saudi-built vehicles can compete globally on quality and technology.

Sultan added that Lucid operates in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE and plans to expand further in GCC markets. This strategy aims to make EVs accessible across the Middle East.

Aligning with Saudi Vision 2030

Experts say Lucid’s initiative supports electric vehicle manufacturing in Saudi Arabia and aligns with Saudi Vision 2030. The Kingdom is reducing its reliance on oil and focusing on high-value industries such as advanced manufacturing and sustainable technology.

Full-scale manufacturing also complements other automotive projects, such as Hyundai’s new plant and the Ceer EV brand. Both aim to expand production by the mid-2020s.

Looking Ahead

As Lucid Motors advances EV manufacturing in Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom could become a key player in the global EV supply chain. Exports, top-tier factories, and a supportive ecosystem are shaping a new era. Saudi Arabia is now poised to redefine how and where electric cars are made.
